6/29/2009 Sonos performs at NPR's Mountain Stage
From Los Angeles, Calif., the six members of Sonos perform vocal arrangements of contemporary pop songs. This recording took place at what was also one of the group's first public performances. Their self-titled debut CD, recorded at LA's KCRW, was released in March 2009.
Chris Harrison, Jessica Freedman, Paul Peglar, Katharine Hoye, Ben McLain and Rachel Bearer are the group's singers, with McLain providing beat-box backing. For this set, the group does renditions of Radiohead's "Everything In Its Right Place," Fleet Foxes' "White Winter Hymnal," "Oh What a World," by Rufus Wainwright and "I Want You Back," a Motown hit in 1969 for the Jackson 5.
Julie Adams, backed by the Mountain Stage band, follows with a rendition of Jackson Browne's "These Days."
